Chimpanzee Attack Oprah

During the Oprah Winfrey Show, Charla Nash, the woman who was mauled by a 200-pound chimpanzee last February 16 this year revealed her face and shared how her sightless life went after that tragic incident.

The attack took place outside Herold's home, when Herold called Nash to help her shepherd the 14-year-old chimpanzee, Travis, back into her house. Police shot and killed Travis after he attacked Nash.

Nash's legal filing describes her injuries as "catastrophic." She lost both hands and incurred "traumatic facial injury" that includes the loss of her nose, upper and lower lips, eyelids and the bony structures in her mid-face.

Doctors have been able to reattach one of her thumbs, which Winfrey gently shook at the end of the interview. Asked what she would tell those who saw her and didn't know how to react, Nash said, "I'm the same person I've always been. I just look different. You know, and there's things that happen in life that, you know, you can't change it. You know, it's a tragedy."

Did You know that White people dress or masked as blackface is offensive as it entails racism? That's the controversy now with the October 2009 issue of French Vogue Fashion Magazine as it featured supermodel Lara Stone dressed in blackface.

In the October issue of French Vogue, which is dedicated to "Supermodels," there are no black models. No Naomi Campbell, no Tyra Banks, no Iman, no Alek Wek, no Liya Kebede, no Chanel Iman. Instead, Dutch model Lara Stone appeared in a 14-page editorial in blackface. Aside from the fact that models of many nationalities have gained a greater presence in the fashion industry and should have been used in this magazine, today in 2009 we should all know that white people dressing in blackface is offensive.

What is Fujiwara Effect?

In the Philippines, many of us have heard the term Fujiwara Effect since Super Typhoon Peping came back when it was supposed to be out of the country. This behaviour is called Fujiwara Effect.

But what is exactly the Fujiwara Effect means? The effect is named after Sakuhei Fujiwhara, the Japanese meteorologist who initially described it in a 1921 paper about the motion of vertices in water.

Fujiwhara effect or Fujiwara interaction is a type of interaction between two nearby cyclonic vortices, causing them to appear to "orbit" each other. When the cyclones approach each other, their centers will begin orbiting cyclonically about a point between the two systems. The two vortices will be attracted to each other, and eventually spiral into the center point and merge. When the two vortices are of unequal size, the larger vortex will tend to dominate the interaction, and the smaller vortex will orbit around it.

The effect is often mentioned in relation to the motion of tropical cyclones, although the final merging of the two storms is uncommon. The effect becomes pronounced in these storms when they approach within about 1,450 km (900 mi) of each other and are at tropical storm strength or stronger.

19 Pound Indonesian Baby Born

Did you know that a 19-pound baby boy was born in Indonesia, Last Monday? Actually his weight is 19.2 pounds and measures 2 feet in length. Huge, isn't he?

He was delivered through cesarian section and, thankfully, there was no complications reported yet. According to news, the mother of this baby was is diabeted so the glucose intake caused the abnormally growth of the bay during the pregnancy period.

But wait! Did you also know that even though his big, he still didn't made it to the Guinness World of Records? Wondering why?, Well, based on Guinness' listing, the biggest baby ever delivered was 23 pounds on 1879.

What is Corpus Delicti?

During my Jurisprudence class, I remember the term corpus delicti used by my teachers. I guessed that it has something to do with a dead body or corpse from the first word corpus. What I don't know is the meaning of the second word delicti.

Corpus delicti (plural: corpora delicti) (Latin: "body of crime") is a term from Western jurisprudence which refers to the principle that it must be proven that a crime has occurred before a person can be convicted of committing the crime. Where was the First Fossil of Hyracotherium Found?

Do you want to know where was the first Hyracotherium fossil was discovered? It was discovered in England in 1841 by paleontologist, Richard Owen. On the other hand, in 1876, 35 years later after the first fossil was found, the second fossil of the same genus was found in America.

It was believed that Hyracotherium are ancestors of the horse, though it has 4 toes on the front foot and 3 toes on the back. It is a lenght of only 2 feet and much smaller height of 8 - 9 inches with a long skull and 44 teeth. Because of these findings, the belief that the Hyracotherium is of the size of a fox terrier was overturned, as it actually half the size of the latter.

Why most people, from every culture, tip their heads to the right and not the left when kissing, is one of life's deep mysteries. Our research suggests that it makes no difference whether the kisser is left- or right-handed.

Walmart News: Man Arrested for Slapping A Child

Did you know that a 61-year-old man slapped a 2-year old child at Walmart store in Georgia and got arrested? Yes, this is true.

According to reports from CNN, Roger Stephens was at the Walmart when he heard the child crying, the child was not his. Maybe the child's crying got into his nerves that he approached the mother and told her that she should hush her baby or else he will do it, himself. After sometime, when the crying still continued, Stephens, grabbed the child and slapped her four times. Imagine the terror that the child went through.

The man was then arrested and he apologized to the mother for doing such cruel actions.

Auburn Fire Blazed 700 Acres in the Placer County, California

The Auburn fire, especially at the Gold Country town had blazed approximately 700 acres in the Placer County as of last report. NASA Shuttle Launch Scheduled Friday Night

NASA shuttle, Discovery, was supposed to be launched Friday morning, but after it was found out that there was a valve glitch, it was ordered that the launched would be on the evening of th same day. The said delay was ordered to give the engineers a little more time to be sure that the hydrogen valve in the engine compartment will function accurately during the space flight.

Discovery, the name of the shuttle, will be bringing supplies and equipment to the space station.During their tanking last Tuesday, the engineers found out that the valve fails to normally close and open during an operation. SO, hopefully, the launching will be successful.

Hurricane Danny Towards Cape Cod

For the second time this season, another hurricane, called Hurricane Danny, will strike the Cape Cod. This hurricane is considered to be under Category 1 as it slowly moves northeastward toward Cape Cod this Saturday, August 22, 2009. It will then quickly cross to Canada the next day as it weakens its signal.

As of the latest news bulletin, As estimated, Danny is moving at the speed of 45 mph, while its eye is at 450 miles east of Nassau and 775 miles south to southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.

Hurricane Danny is expected to weaken and behave as a tropical storm on Sunday, August 23, 2009.

Patti Davis, the wild child of the late former US President Ronald Reagan and wife, Nancy Davis Reagan, showed her rebellion to her father's politics by posing for the famous men's magazine Playboy.

When she was 41, she once again made a "scandalous" act against her family when she posed for the same magazine naked while her breasts are covered with a black man's hands - as shown on the attached picture above. She also starred in her own direct-to-video “Playboy Celebrity Centerfold”, where she was shown cavorting with Monique Parent.

Megan Wants A Millionaire Canceled

VH1 has already canceled the show, Megan Wants a Millionaire,when they found out that Ryan Jenkins, a contestant of the show and suppose to be listed as one of the finalists, is wanted for a murder.

According to reports, Jenkins was a suspect for the death of Jasmine Fione, a woman he met and married in Las Vegas last March. Fione's nude lifeless body was found in a suitcase, which was dumped behind an apartment at Buena Park.

For obvious reasons, VH1 has decided to cancel the show, together with all its promotional information.

Derrick Thomas' Death

Derrick Thomas death is such a tragedy. He when his SUV went off the road. Thomas, who was driving, was Aspeeding and weaving through traffic.

Thomas and one of the passengers were not wearing seat belts and both were thrown from the car; the passenger was killed instantly. The second passenger, who was wearing his safety belt, walked away from the scene uninjured. Thomas was left paralyzed from the chest down. Where is the Shuttle landing path of the Endeavour astronauts? If you can remember, the Nasa has launched a shuttle  earlier this month. 

Now the crew are having problems on where to land the shuttle due to bad weather. If the weather or some other problem prevents a re-entry today, Endeavour's crew will remain in orbit an additional 24 hours and try again Saturday. 

I just hope that they're going to make it soon...

White Sox Pitcher Mark Buehrle throws perfect game

Mark Buehrle, White Sox pitcher, throws a perfect game last Thursday. Buehrle retired all 27 Tampa Bay batters to complete a 5-0 perfect game, the second in White Sox history.

Seeing the game at the espn, I remembered the baseball game played by the Cullen (from the novel/movie Twilight) Family. I really love this scene of the movie as Alice gracefully throws the ball and everyone else in the family played really exceptionally.

I'm looking forward excitedly to the showing of its next sequel, "New Moon". Can't wait to see my crush, Edward Cullen (Rob Pattinson).

If you missed to observe the sky last Tuesday, July 21, Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles offers a solar eclipse 2009 live webcast. The live webcast from Griffith will show the eclipse from an island near Shanghai, China, and include some commentary from curators at the observatory.

Griffith Observatory will present the live webcast from 5:24 to 8:03 p.m. The webcast will be shown on a large screen in the Gunther Depths of Space room.

Jupiter Hit By Comet

Either a comet or meteoroid hit the planet of Jupiter last Sunday and it was absorbed  by its thick atmosphere of ammonia and methane. The said comet or meteoroid left a "scar" on the planet which was seen from NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility atop Mauna Kea in Hawaii. It was first spotted by an amateur Australian astronomer, Anthony Wesley. 

"I suspect the impact scar itself should remain visible for a few days, maybe a week," said Leigh Fletcher, a scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. He also added the the "scar" is about the size of the earth.

Giant Jellyfish Found At Japan

A giant Jellyfish called Nomura's Jellyfish has been found recently at the Sea of Japan. Many were astonished due to its enormous size and thought that seeing jellyfish as big as that is something spectacular.

On the other hand, the inhabitants of the area think that this jellyfish is like a monster because it damages the nets of the fishermen, as well as, harm other sea creatures. The villagers are also afraid that big waves will result from any movement of this fish and may cause further damage to them.

The massive sea creatures, called Nomura's jellyfish, can grow 6 feet (1.83 meters) in diameter and weigh more than 450 pounds (204 kilos). Scientists think they originate in the Yellow Sea and in Chinese waters. For the third year since 2005, ocean currents are transporting them into the Sea of Japan.

NASA Shuttle Launch Today

Today, NASA planned to launched its new shuttle. The said launching was already been postponed three times before and this is the fourth time, the lanching is postponed. According to them, the delay is primarily caused by bad weather.

Endeavor, the shuttle's name, contains robotics that is set to do some important experiments on space, without having the risk the lives of its crew members. There will also be significant tasks assigned for the robotics to perform there.

I just hope that the crew can get home safe and sound and that the endeavor of Endeavor will be a success.

The police said that the bullets from Burris' gun matched the bullets that they have found in the vicitms body. The police also added that people of South Carolina can now sleep soundly tonight as the killer have already been shot and dead by the police.

Why Drink Water?

The Strongest Muscle

Nowadays, men and women are fond of going to the gym burning our fats/calories that the have accrued during the holiday season. I bet “going to the gym” or “losing weight” is definitely in their list of New Year’s Resolution.

Some have also frequented gyms to grow muscles so that they will look more manly or sexy for the women. While some are not yet contented of their bulging triceps and biceps as well as their six (6) packs (8 packs, actually) and wants them to bulge more. Whatever their reason may be…let’s just leave them alone (hehehe). It’s their prerogative.

The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue. I don’t exactly know the basis of this trivia. But in my “layman’s” idea, I think it’s because it can move on its own and that it flexible enough to do things that other muscles can’t.

I just remembered a record holder from the Guinness World of Records pulling a very big truck using only his tongue! Yes! This is true, I don’t know if you have seen this. Strings or ropes are tide on a pin that his also connected on his tongue. See, how strong the tongue is? Maybe, men should learn to explore their tongue’s ability to satisfy women. Having Fun Going Brainless

I hate people who pretend that they know everything but at the same time, I am also having fun listening them and pretending that I “brainless’ in the sense that I pretend that I don’t know what they are talking about and that I am really interested in what they are telling me.
I don’t know why they have to pretend like that. Will it hurt them if they admit that they don’t know something? Or will their ego be hit “bull’s eye” when other people are aware that they know nothing? Why do they need to impress others when in fact they look like Mr. or Ms. Morones (moron)? Dentist’s Said…

Pearly white teeth, perfect set of teeth and “close-up” smile are some of the services that our dentist can offer. In addition, they have also taught us on how to brush our teeth correctly, care for them (the teeth, not the dentist…lol) and gave us other valuable information so that we can have a healthy and strong teeth.

One of the advices of the dentists is to keep our toothbrush six (6) feet away from the toilet when we are on the process of flushing it. This is to avoid germs coming out of the bowl coming in contact with the toothbrush, and with our mouth, later…

I’m glad I have come to know this as it is my routine to bring my toothbrush with me inside the bathroom, when I do my rituals every morning, which includes letting go of the toxins (defecating), taking a bath and lastly, brushing my teeth.
